PATAGONIA
Located in the southwest of Santa Cruz province, Los Glaciares National Park is an incomparable destination encompassing more than 726,000 hectares of majestic landscapes. With 260,000 hectares of ice and 95,000 hectares of lakes, this park, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981, preserves a vast portion of the southern mountain range and its natural wealth.
Among the impressive glaciers calving from the Southern Patagonian Ice Field (the largest non-polar continental ice mass in the world), the most notable are the famous Perito Moreno Glacier, the only one accessible by land vehicle, and others such as the Upsala and Spegazzini, which can be admired by boat or hike. Furthermore, in the El Chaltén area, trekking trails offer unparalleled views of hidden glaciers and mountains.

The Andean-Patagonian forests, dominated by lenga, ñire, and sour cherry trees, cover much of the region, while in the far west, species such as cinnamon and elderberry contribute their unique beauty. The park is also home to diverse fauna, including majestic birds like the condor, the black-backed eagle, the choique, and the giant woodpecker, as well as emblematic animals like the huemul, the puma, and the guanaco.
For adventure lovers, the high mountains stretch above 1,000 meters, where wind, snow, and rugged formations create a challenging and captivating environment.
Los Glaciares National Park is a sanctuary of extreme nature, where the contrast between forests, glaciers, and the Patagonian steppe invites you to live a unique experience.

CLIMATE
The climate in El Calafate is cold and dry, with barely 300 mm of annual rainfall, although in the National Park, where the Perito Moreno Glacier is located, rainfall is abundant, reaching 1,500 mm.
The city has a milder microclimate than the Patagonian plateau of which it is part: it is located on the edge of Lake Argentino, on a north-facing slope and protected by a growing grove of trees tended by local residents. The climate in the glacial zone is much more humid, and the cold coming from the ice makes a difference to the city's climate.
